What is Heroling?

Heroling turns your child into the hero of their own storybook. You enter a first name, an age and pronouns, design a cartoon avatar from a set of options, and pick a story theme — what comes back is a print-ready PDF of 12–14 illustrated pages with your child on every one of them.

How does making a book work?

Three steps. Tell us about your child — a first name, an age, pronouns. Build their hero — a cartoon avatar with your pick of skin, hair, outfit and more. Then choose one of ten story themes and the book is generated as a print-quality PDF you can print at home.

Do I need to upload a photo of my child?

No — Heroling never asks for a photo. The hero is a cartoon avatar you design from options, and it looks identical on every page because the same character artwork is drawn by code on each one, not reimagined by an image model.

Where does Heroling use AI?

In exactly one place: Claude, a language model from Anthropic, writes the book’s title and one line of story text per scene. The scene order, the avatar, the page layouts and all of the artwork are deterministic code and pre-drawn assets. No image-generation AI is used anywhere.

What exactly do I get when I buy?

A print-ready PDF, downloadable right after payment. For a storybook that means 12–14 illustrated pages at print resolution; a coloring book is the same story drawn as line art to fill in. Cards come out at 5×7 inch with a front and an inside panel.

How much does a book cost?

The exact price is shown on the buy button before checkout — a one-time payment per book or card, not a subscription. Making the book and previewing a watermarked page is free; you only pay if you want the finished file.

Do I need an account or a password?

No. There is no signup and there are no passwords — you can make and buy a book entirely as a guest. An optional Google sign-in exists if you want your books kept in one place.

What ages are Heroling books for?

The ten themes span ages 2–9, and each one shows its own range: gentler bedtime and farm stories start at 2, while the space and superhero adventures stretch to 9. Coloring books also let you pick a line weight to match smaller hands.

What happens to my child’s data?

We only ever have what you type: a first name, an age, pronouns and avatar choices. There are no photo uploads, no child accounts, no ads, and nothing is sold. The Privacy Policy spells out what is kept, for how long, and how to erase all of it.

Can I get a refund?

If the book is not what you bought, or something went wrong on our side, email us and we will fix it or refund you. Even if the story simply did not land, tell us — we would rather regenerate it than leave you with it. The Terms cover how EU withdrawal rules apply to digital content.

What kinds of cards can I make?

Thirty-two designs: sixteen birthday cards, eight party invitations and eight anniversary cards. Every word on a card is yours — no AI writes it — and the PDF comes out at 5×7 inch with a front and an inside panel, ready to print.
