What Heroling makes
A storybook with your child in it. You give us a first name, an age and pronouns, design a cartoon avatar from a set of options, and pick a theme. What comes back is a print-ready PDF — twelve to fourteen illustrated pages with your child as the hero of every one of them.
The same book can be generated as a coloring book: the same story and the same hero, drawn as line art to be filled in. And there are greeting cards — birthday cards, party invitations and anniversary cards, where every word is yours rather than written for you.
The deliverable is a PDF.
Heroling is not a reading app or a shareable link. You download a high-resolution file and print it, at home or anywhere that prints. Nothing is posted to you.
How it works
- Tell us about them. Name, age, pronouns — the basics that make it theirs.
- Build their hero. Skin, hair, eyes, expression, outfit, glasses, a cape, a superpower, a sidekick — previewed live, before anything is generated.
- Get the book. We render every page and hand you the print-quality PDF.
The avatar is the point. It is composed from the choices you made, the same way every time, so the character on page twelve is the character you approved on the preview screen — not a lookalike, the same drawing. That is why you see the hero before you commit to anything.
Where the AI is, and where it is not
One part of the book is written by a language model, and it is a smaller part than people usually assume. Claude, from Anthropic, writes the title and one line of text per scene. That is the whole of it.
Everything else is ordinary code, and it is the same every run:
- The scenes, their order and how many there are come from a fixed list we authored per theme — not from the model.
- Your child’s avatar is drawn from your choices by a deterministic composer. The same choices always produce the same drawing, to the pixel.
- Every page layout, every pose and the artwork behind it are ours, drawn in advance.
No image model is involved.
Nothing about the pictures is generated by AI — not the scenes, not the hero, not a background. That is also why the same child looks identical on every page, which is the one thing image models still cannot promise.
Model-written text varies between runs and is not proofread by a person. Read the story before you give it to a child — it is one page of text and it takes a minute.
What we deliberately do not do
- No photo upload. We never ask for a picture of your child, and there is nowhere to give us one. The hero is built from options.
- No account for a child. The child is who the book is about; the adult is who uses the site. Children have no account here and no way to get one.
- No password. There is no signup form. You make a book first and give us an email only when you buy one.
- No ads, and nothing sold on. We do not sell or share what you tell us, and there is no advertising anywhere on this site.
- No tracking cookies. Our analytics are cookieless and count pages, not people — which is why you have never seen a consent banner here.
