Heroling
Terms & Conditions

1. This agreement
These terms apply when you use heroling.app or buy anything from it. Using the site means you accept them. If you do not, please do not use it — nothing here obliges you to.
2. What you are buying
A digital file. When you buy a book or a card you get a high-resolution, print-ready PDF to download and keep.
Nothing is printed, bound or posted to you.
Heroling does not ship physical products. Printing is yours to do — at home, or through any print shop you like. There is no postage because there is no parcel.
Before you buy, you can see a single low-resolution, watermarked page of your own book. The full file becomes available once the order is paid.
3. Who may use Heroling
You must be 18 or older. Heroling is for adults; a child is who a book is about, not who uses the site.
When you make a book about a child, you are confirming that you are their parent or guardian, or that you have that person’s permission. Please do not make a book about someone else’s child without it.
4. What you give us, and what you are responsible for
You supply a first name, an age, pronouns and avatar choices — and, on a card, every word that appears on it. The card text is yours entirely: we do not write it, check it or edit it, and it is printed as you typed it.
So it is on you to make sure what you write is lawful, is yours to use, and is not abusive or infringing. We may refuse or remove an order that breaks that.
5. How the story is written
The title and one line of text per scene are written by an AI language model. Everything else — the scenes, their order, every page layout and your child’s avatar — is fixed by us in code and is the same on every run.
- The text varies. Two books made from identical answers will not have identical words.
- No person proofreads it. We steer it hard toward gentle, age-appropriate stories, but we cannot promise a specific outcome.
- Please read it first. It is a page of text, and it takes a minute — do that before you give the book to a child.
The avatar and the artwork are not AI-generated at all, which is why the hero looks the same on every page.
6. Ownership and what you may do with the file
The details you give us stay yours. We claim nothing over your child’s name, their age or the words you wrote, and we do not use your book to promote Heroling.
The illustrations, layouts, templates and the software behind them stay ours. What you buy is a licence to use the finished file, and it is a generous one:
- Print it as many times as you like, for yourself, your family and as gifts.
- Keep it, back it up, and print it again years later.
- What it does not cover is selling the file or prints of it, redistributing it publicly, or reusing our artwork in something else.
7. Paying, and getting your file
Every purchase is a one-off. There is no subscription, no recurring charge and nothing to cancel. You pay the price shown at checkout, in the currency shown there, and that is the amount taken.
You do not need an account to buy. You give an email address at checkout, and that address is what your order belongs to.
Download your file when you buy it.
The download on the confirmation page is the delivery. We also try to send a link to that address so you can get back to it from another device — treat it as a convenience, not as the delivery, and do not rely on it arriving.
Keep the file once you have it. Saving your own copy is the surest way to still have your book in a year.
8. Cancelling, and refunds
Consumers in the EU normally have 14 days to withdraw from an online purchase. Digital content delivered immediately is the recognised exception: by asking us to generate and release your file straight away, you are asking for delivery to begin at once and you lose that right once it has.
That is the legal position, and it is not how we intend to behave. If the file is broken, if the book is not what you bought, or if something went wrong on our side, email [email protected] and we will fix it or refund you. A story you simply did not like is worth telling us about too — we would rather regenerate it than leave you with it.
9. Availability
We do our best to keep Heroling running, but it is provided as it is. We do not promise uninterrupted availability, and we may change, pause or withdraw parts of the service. If we take something away that you have paid for and cannot deliver, we refund it. Beyond that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss — and nothing here limits any right you have as a consumer that cannot be limited.
10. Acceptable use
Please do not:
- Use Heroling to make material that is hateful, sexual, harassing, or harmful to a child.
- Make a book or card about a real person who has not agreed to it.
- Try to reach files, accounts or orders that are not yours, or work around the payment step.
- Automate, scrape or overload the service — there is a daily generation limit and it is there so the site works for everyone.
11. Ending this
You can stop at any time, and delete your account and everything in it from your account page. What that removes and what it keeps is set out in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks the acceptable-use rules above. If we do that to an account with a paid order and no good reason, we refund it.
12. Contact
Questions about these terms, an order, or a refund: [email protected]. If we change these terms we update this page and the date at the top; the version in force is the one published when you buy.
